Question 89 Continental Skipping-need some help

I've got a 89 Lincoln Continental, 3.8 V-6 Front wheel drive, My engine is skipping and I've tried everything, first of all, it's not head gaskets or burnt valves, or anything major like that. It started skipping just alittle and got worse over a period of a month. You can't even drive it now. When the engine is running it leaves a black smutty spot on the ground from the exhaust, (there is no smoking) and burnt like 2 gallons of gas in a matter of about 5 minutes of running in the driveway, and it backfires back through the throttle body only when you rev the engine real quick from an idle every so often, so the first thing I thought was flooding, so I tear it down to the injectors and pull them off (after replacing god knows how many sensors) I found that one injector doesn't have a little needle thingy sticking out of the tip and the rest do, could this injector be bad and constantly dumping fuel and causing the skipping problem??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
