Re: toyota pickup should i lift or lower????
I would definately not lower the truck. If you decide to lift it there are basically two options. You can either do a suspension lift, being the more expensive way, and probably better way. Or you could do a body lift, which is cheap and can often be homemade with a little vision. Personally I never lifted my truck and never really needed it to be. Good luck, oh and some adresses to check out are
www.4wheelerssupply.com www.tuffcountry.com www.suspensionconnection.com Pretty much the list goes on. Nothing that google can't do. Cheers!

Re: toyota pickup should i lift or lower????
i wouldn't lower it. it is 4x4 and would make a good offroad/mud/sand toy. if it was 2wd, then i would say lower it, as 2wd lowered is much nicer on the street. i have an 85 2wd and after i lowered it, the handling was much nicer. but, as you bought a 4x4, you weren't interested in street handling

if you want to lower get a 2wd toyota. chevy's are too popular. if you want to stand out, go with a toyota and get creative

Re: toyota pickup should i lift or lower????
i don't have mine slammed, but i do have it lowered. 2" blocks in back, and turned the torsion bars in front. add the bottom air dam off of a 4x4 toyo, and you have, basically, a japanese s10, without the bags. my truck stills clears potholes, speedbumps, 90mph, but not emissions :-). thye do look decent, even without making a bodykit. besides, trucks do not need bodykits. save that for idiot civic drivers

if its a 2x4 drop it using a full air ride air bag system and if its a 4x4 lift it that way you use the truck for your personal expression of you but don't drop a 4x4 and lift a 2x4 its just plian stupid

Re: toyota pickup should i lift or lower????
man idon't know what kind of lowered toys you guys have seen but they are pretty trick, fast and if you slap on some 12 inch wide slicks on the back with nice flares...oh man! where i live we got two crusing around, one runs high 13s, the other high 12s (still street legal might i ad). but then again if its a 4x4 do NOT drop it at all then again don't need to lift it over 8" its a toyota it can handle fine with a little lift.

i'm in the middle of redoing my 2wd toyota '85. I put 2" blocks in the back to lower it, and i don't know if i will turn the torsion bars or just get drop spindles for the front. i will probably put in spindles so i don't mess with the camber or suspension travel. I have a 4x4 that i am scrapping out for parts and i have found a lot on it to be usefull. i changed out the grill, bumper, interior, and motor (for the fi). i also took the bottom bumper valance off of the 4wd. the valance on my 4x4 hangs lower than the one that was on my 2wd. It will look a lot nicer when i have the front dropped to match the back. I am also selling parts off of my 4x4 if anyone is interested. post a reply with an email address and i will get back to you

Re: toyota pickup should i lift or lower????
hey taco85 are you going for power or just for looks because the regular carb motor has alot of options which can result in considerable power gains without the hassle of an engine swap plus you don't have to worry about the computer and such.

i am going for power and looks, as i want something better for in the winter. as for the wiring and the computer, i already have it ready, it is very easy to swap on these trucks. i would actually like to put the v6 in, but i do not have one available.m the carb is a good motor, but it is kinda not fuel efficient. i want fuel efficiency and power, both of which come with fi. if you have any tips or insights, they would be greatly appeciated, as i am ddoing the swap this weekend.

Re: toyota pickup should i lift or lower????
hey, sounds sweet, fuel efficient, it is becoming a must these days and if you live where it snows efi is the way to go. i don't have that problem here on the islands unless i go and park my truck on the mauntain for a couple of days in the winter.
