This is the Porsche:
http://209.25.185.210/SDBQ?y=2003&m=Porsche&o=980
But, won't be out until 2003, and I'm sure the projected cost will be way into the six figure range. Looks like an awfully sleek, low-slung coupe, with 700 horsepower to back up its appearance.

The car has seen the light of day. It sports a v10 instead of V8, and it has 550 BHP. Top speed is 205 mph. It is called the Porsche Carrera GT. The 980 is just a rumor, that Porsche made to possibly cover up the Carrera GT project. That car will probably reach production in 2003 if nothing goes wrong.

The GT is still just a show car/prototype at this point, yes? I had some kid babbling to me just yesterday that a buddy of his that works at an import dealership had gotten to drive one. I thought "yeah right," but didn't say anything to vocalize my disbelief.

But there are no GT's that people can get this hands on yet, even for a test drive, unless they have connections in very high places in Porsche's hierarchy.. or am I incorrect?

I'd heard that the 980 will be produced in a few years. I'm sure I heard wrong, but that's what I heard.

What's the new 914? Any links for me, or any pictures?

I think Porsche actually had it/let it published in R&T.

I went to flat6.net and they didn't have anything under concepts or under production 914's.

We can only wish for the 980.
But it is only a design venture at the moment. Porsche has to watch the market and see if there is a demand. There is a working prototype but that is all there is...

Unless that mentioned person works at the Stuttgard test facility in Germany...no one has driven the 980.

Lets's see what happens in a few years though...the Viper was a hit!
