1999 Dodge Intrepid WONT START NOTHING
Please help someone! I bought this car at a government seized auction.
Got it home, lights and radio work. When you turn ignition car will not make a sound. I bought a new battery and had the starter tested. Starter is good according to Autozone and Pep Boys. Should there be a keyless remote for starting? Any tricks to disable the car so it will not start? Alarm system? Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated (except for the one about buying from auctions). Thanks |

My guess is that it has OEM antitheft on the ignition and you'll need to take it to the dealer for them to open up programming to accept a new ignition key.

If the anti-theft isn't an issue (not all of them have it, mine doesn't) you have to check to see if the starter relay is getting a signal from the computer. That is what was wrong with mine when the previous owner bought it. Turned out to need a new computer. He got a used one for a hundred dollars or so. I would recommend a new one however, and you would need to have the dealer flash a new one.
