Re: Question about VTEC

Sure, till all the oil sprays out of the galley andthen it explodes. The solenoid has to be in place (or something to fill the oil passage), it doesn't have to work, but it has to be there.

i was just aksing cause i have an automatic 93 civic dx ( ill wait while all of u finish laughing at me, i know) and well the other nite i was forced to race some geeks on the highway. Now, my tranny only has 1, 2, D3, and D4. I shift my automatic (yes thats right, i shift my auto tranny manually...laugh some more but its a whole hell of alot quicker in response and acceleration than not shifting) and i was in D4 doing like 60 or so mph when these geeks came up on the side of me and were staring me down basically. so anyways, i floored it and when i got to about 80, somewhere around there, the car shifted yet again and it basically pushed me back a little in my seat and i coasted to well over 110mph in like 2 seconds. I dont know much about the history of my car so i figured id ask about whether or not i could have a vtec engine and just not have the solenoid. i figured not but i didnt expect my automatic DX to have that much pull that quick at that fast of speed.

what's your engine code number?

If your car has VTEC, it should say it on the valve cover.

Re: Question about VTEC

DX doesn't have vtec, I doubt anyone has swapped a vtec into it, and not all vtec engines have it on the valve cover.
