Re: Temperature gauge not reading

how long did you let the car run if you did not let it run long enough the it masy not be reading it if you did and still not reading then you should pull the sensors and test them to make sure that is it reading .
I would just replace them a few bucks and your set to go

Re: Temperature gauge not reading

i am assuming you started it up and let it idle? QuackerStacker is right tho, it wont warm up enough to change the gague unless it is run for a while

Re: Temperature gauge not reading

i dont know about i can drive my car for about 25 to 30 min befor it will even move if you have a resevor then let it run till you see at least a little over flow if your temp gage is not responding by then replace them

Re: Temperature gauge not reading

an idleing engine will not heat up very fast not matter what rpm but a half hour is quite a while, i would make sure all the connections to the heat sensors (one in the head and one in hte block) are good otherwise just replace them

Re: Temperature gauge not reading

the one in the rad does not controll the gague, it sets off the cooling fan when it reaches a certain temperature. you will have to look at an 85 civic reapir manual to see where the sensors are, on my 83 they are both on the passenger side of the engine, one in the head and one in the block

Re: Temperature gauge not reading

yeah, the temp sensor just controlls the gague, i would just wait till u have the car on the road before you get too worked up about it. it may be fine but you wont know for sure till you've driven it a bit.
