Need some pointers on what kind of primer to use...I recently sanded down my Rx-7 FD and its nice now..but however i read on the FAQ that i need to use primer. I went to the store today and i found a primer spray paint, but it said it was for metal and wood only? So..hmm can someone tell me what type of primer am i looking for? I just wanna get that and be on way..with my model.. Msg asap ^___^ in working mode |

Someone told me about Plasti-kote T235 primer. I bought some and used it and it worked great. This is an automotive primer but does not seem to hurt the plastic. I dusted on some light coats then put on a wet coat, dries super smooth. Hope this helps. Mike.

Re: What kind of primer? ^___^
Tamiya Grey surface primer seems to work well, even with auto paints. I recently found out the hard way that some automotive "plastic trim" primers will craze the surface of models...

This is also something I've been playing about with, with mixed results.
Can't go wrong with model primers, acrylic ones such as Tamiya or Gunze Sangyo. I also got a great result from Hycote plastic primer. I had great results from Plasti-cote on my real car, about to try it on models. Seems best to avoid Halfords plastic based primers! I've had a very recent model craze badly after using that!
