89 k2500 power steering
I have just replaced the power steering pump on an 89 k2500 in order to fix an issue where at idle I have no power steering... This did not fix my problem... It behaves exactly the same as before replacement... If I bring up the RPM's just a bit it works, but, at idle or while trying to turn without any throttle,, I just don't have any power steering... I was told by the guys at Checker that I probably have a bad steering gear... I'm looking for second opinions before I go that route since it's rather expensive.. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Re: 89 k2500 power steering
dumb ?, do you have oversize tires on the truck. I have found this contributes greatly to the feel of exactly no power steering at idle.

she is all stock
what about air in the system? if i lock the steering wheel all the way left or right i can see small bubbles coming to the surface in the reservoir... is their a specific way to bleed the power steering system.... i have tried turning the wheel left and right about a million times... no luck..

I'm having the same problem with my 94' 1500. I replaced the pump and it fixed the problem for about five minutes. Did you get yours fixed.
