Question Car for a budget

Hey guys,
im looking for a new car, but im on a low budget, i need a car that i can still fix up enough to race. i was thinking a Vortech '99 Honda Civic Si. this car has a b16a engine in it, and is very able to add ons. what do you guys think. the new issue of honda tuning magazine has this car in it, it runs a 14.4, but with a turbo, sticky tires, and lighter wheels, im sure i could turn 12's atleast. just give me your advice

If you are on a tight budget, dont get a car to race with. You'll blow all you money trying to get it faster and the constant repairs you'll need to do. Getting from the 14 to the 12's is not a cheap thing to do with a civic.

Vortech Civic? Damn, i'd say a Civic with a vortech engine would do a lot better then 14's

And as far as a budget, don't get a civic. They're pieces of crap. Buy yoursefl and early 90's 240sx, or if you can find one a sentra se-r. Civics are not made for racing, not without an engine swap at least. You do enough to get a civic into low 12's and it's gonna cost you a lot in both upgrades and maintenance to keep it there.

Get a beaten up CRX and drop in an LS or GSR motor... there's your 12 second race car or should i say go cart.

Unless you only want an import, you can score a A 93-96 Camaro Z28 or Pontiac Trans Am for under $10,000, and those cars come stock with a 5.7L LT1 V8 engine producing 275 HP and 325 ft-lbs of torque. They run about 14.2 stock...and look damned good IMO. :P

Hell I've seen good 1993 Firebird Formulas and Z28's for under 5 grand! Throw an exhaust, procharger w/ intercooler, and twin intake... and you're set!

How the hell would a 1999 supercharged Civic Si cost cheap? Civics hold their price pretty well because all the numbnuts want them.

Get yourself a 91-91 GSX for 3k... put 2 grand in mods and call it a day running reliable low 13's or high 12's. If you want something more spiced up get a 1995 GSX or GS-T. GS-T is sort of shitty fwd crap because I was in a tuned one yesterday and it spun too many times on launches.

Why the hell would you want to put $$ into making a FWD car fast? You're fighting a losing battle with that crap because the harder you accelerate the less traction you have.

if you can find a good priced GSX, go with that... those cars are so fast when you tweak it properlly.

Or go with a low priced big displacement domestic.... i think they're cheaper to upgrade and do work on
