Is that going to increase horsepower or is it just goign to increase torgue? Is there anyway to produce more horsepower to the rear wheels?

Re: Increase horsepower
horse power is just torque X RPM divided by 5250, and I believe that headers do increase RPM, either way, a torque increase will give you a few more ponies since I doubt that your engine is going to lower its redline with a prefromance mod

Re: Increase horsepower
depending on the engine headers generally will give you an increase in both torque and hp. Its easy to increase hp its harder to increase low rpm torque. I simple way of looking at hp is just torque at higher rpms. You most the torque curve higher up the rpm scale you have increased your hp numbers.

What year???? Dual exhaust is a must... tell them you want a "X" pipe dual and dump it at the axel 2 1/4 dia max ...A large two barrel or a small 4 barrel and advance the timming till you get spark knock then back it off a touch...If the car has air cut the belts...If pre 73 use a solid motor mount on the driver side and make sure the trans mount is in good shape....A good shift kit wont hurt....When you have the heads off for service have them milled and run good gas....That is a light car it should go...

Re: Increase horsepower
if you dont already put in electronic igntion. that will give you a hotter spark. plus it will be more consistant. you can also put a big block coil that will give you hotter spark to. i can tell you from experience go with a four barrel. probly like a 600 or a 650. i suggest a carter or a edlebrock. not a big fan of the holley. i have a large two and it doesnt give me what i need. you can put on an aluminum dual plane intake. another thing you can do if you want to pull some stuff apart is put a little bigger cam (just a suggestion) and while your at it you can put in a steel double roller timing chain for duribility. if you do just an intake, carb, and exhaut you should have to worry about losing anything but you should gain hp and torque. for traction purposes try to find an 8 3/4 rear with 3:55 sure grip. have fun
