Question Power Steering on a '93 VTEC

Hi again!

I have just purchased a 1993 VTEC Prelude (Import).

The power steering does not sem to be working at all... the seller gave me what she said was the power steering pump/motor in a box as she had had it taken out as she didn't like the light steering (? erm).

I got this car for a bargin price and the lady seller was very nice indeed so didn't think she would tell me porky's, so I wasn't too bothered about this one problem with it.

How easy is it to fit the pump/motor and how likley is this story she gave me? If the problem isn't what she said, what could it be causing the steering to be like it is?

Again, many thanks in advance and many thanks also for past answers to my (sometimes silly) questions.
