Talking 1994 jetta

Hi Everyone
Being new to the forum I almost hate having to ask but I have a freind's 1994 jetta 2.0 mexican built and it has a driveability problem .I have the snapon modis with all upgrades and programs for all makes auto's. The problem I have is that v.w. evidently has the software so locked up that all I can do is pull code's and run datastream monitor on it.It will start fine and idle as designed. It will drive o.k. in reverse and idle in neutral but when you pull it into any forward gear the idle drop's down and it will hardly move. The check engine light is lit and it has code's for iac and throttle positioner valve but when i run the datastream on them they are within designed parameter's from what I can find in the only book I can find on it.Anybody have any info it would be greatly appreciated as this guy has been without wheel's for 3 week's now.
