Get back to work!!

Well, after being laid off since late December, I finally go back to work on Monday. It's nice to have some time off, but near the end of winter I get a little hungry for steady flow of money again.

What gets me about it this year, is that when they called me to go back they mentioned 'making me an offer' and to see the plant manager first thing. I don't know if this is going to turn out in my favour or not. I hope it does. You see, a meeting of our union was called last week to vote on a new position -Lead Hand- which basically is a foreman position, but under the union contract. A co-worker told me that the vote had passed to add the position this morning.

If that's the 'offer' that I was told about, it would mean a big raise in salary. I'm crossing my fingers!

Does anyone else here get laid off during the winter months? How do you feel about going back to work after that long?

Re: Get back to work!!

I just hope that's what it is....not as much manual labour, more pay
Hope you get back soon! Don't you hate it when a-holes like me aim for you on the driving range? JK I used to work on a course too.

Around here, the beer comes to you! There's usually a hottie driving the cold drink cart from hole to hole. It gives tie one on a whole new meaning...

damn!
Thats bloody good money to be watching other people work.
Is that 3pm start, or 3am?
If its a 3pm start then awsome, if its 3am, then theres no way any one could pay enough to do it again.

Re: Get back to work!!

darn good money for watching for "productivity". However, sounds like the hours may suck, depending on the situation. Good luck!

Re: Get back to work!!

Start at 3 pm...It's a nice pay raise from 14.85/hr driving a lift truck. I have 30 days to try it. If I can't do it-don't like it, I can go back to my old job.
