newbie needing guidance on swap

hi fellas, this is my first post after using this forum for assistance for quite some time. anyways, i recently aqcuired a friend of mine's 1996 honda civic with: bodykit, cold air intake, and emmissions removal modifications. i just applied for a few jobs, and i am looking forward to modding up my vehicle and learning the ins and outs along the way. one of the first things id like to do, however, is swap my engine. i drive the dx model and i have like 105 hp under the hood, considerably meager. i want at least 150 but would like for this to be a project stretching well through my coming college years, and so, would prefere an engine with turbo charging potential (i understand that vtecs complicate this considerably). so, my basic question is, should i go with an engine that has >150hp and is vtech, or one that is <150ht and isnt vtech. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and also, money IS an option so dont forgot i dont have much money to piss away. thank you much...

derek

well if you want a turbo friendly motor, go with the b18a from an integra LS, its around 135hp but as a low compression already so you can throw on a small turbo without upgrading the internals.

96+ B18B1 is the right motor for a 96. Cable tranny, OBD I, B18A1 is a pain to put in a hydraulic tranny, OBD II car.
