You do not need to use all colors for the first time
Colors you MUST have almost for any model:
-body color (any you choose)
-semi-gloss black
-flat aluminium
-chrome silver
-clear red
-clear orange
-german grey
-gun metal
-flat white or gloss white
other depends from particular kit

What all does it ask for? Sometimes it will ask for a color that is used to detail one tiny spot on the kit...

Just buy the basic's as it's your first kit. Not worth spending a truck load of money on paints etc and you decide you dont like building models

Hehe, I need to fine a good cheap semi-gloss black. For some reasons the local stores only sell the 10ml bottles of X-18 and I go through them like candy. I wish they sold it in tubs like the 300ml thinner.

I like Tamiya paint but it's kinda expensive and some paints needed in very small quantity. We have it only in big bottles locally. I think to switch to Hubmrol for fine detailing, it's small and cheap.
