Looking into bujying an RX-7, need info

I need infor, numbers, and don't know where to get them.
first off I am 6'3" will I fit? I don't fit in a 00' Hyundai Sonata, do fit in a 88' Honda Prelude.

secound, I spied a spedometer going up to 180, I think it was a 2nd generation, can they really pull 180mph?

Third, does any one know off hand what the stock hp, and torque numbers are for the single turbo and the double?

and, is a non tubo engine any diffrent from a turbo, besides the turbo?

and how reliable are these cause it seems like all of them on ebay either have 40,000 miles, or arn't running, so is this thing going to break all the time? Cause if so I will just buy my Camaro now.

thanks so much, and after having a 93' twin turbo RX-7 almost hit me and then go racing off in a panic I really want one.

If you're worried about a car being a pain in the ass to fix... then you really don't want an rx-7. Not many people can honestly do mechanic work on a rotary - and if they can they charge out the ass.

Unless you're willing to do it the hard way (sitting down with a book and going through trial and error) or are willing to pay out the ass if something breaks... then get a camaro.

Re: Looking into bujying an RX-7, need info

I'm 6'2 and I fit in my rx-7. I also have a steering wheel that is 2 inches smaller in diameter compared to the stock one. That part helps a lot. Try to find a local rx-7 for sale using Autotrader maybe and test drive one.

The turbo engine has lower compression rotors in it so it is more boost friendly. The 2nd Gen rx-7's were from 86-91. The Turbo models where called the "Turbo II" They where made from 87-91. 87-88 turbos made 182 hp. 89-91 turbos made 202 hp.

Re: Looking into bujying an RX-7, need info

non-turbos are very reliable with just standard maintnance, non turbos made 160 in 89-91 and I believe the 86-88 was 145. my 91 non-turbo pulls 130, they say it tops at 138 but I hit 130 in 4th gear and decided that was good enough for me

oh and I'm 6'3 with the stock steering wheel, I fit fine for me, my right leg is about 2 inches from the wheel and left leg about 4 inches from the whell, but it doesn't seemed cramped at all and my legs aren't all bent and cramped up either, and I have about 5 inches in head room, 1 of those inches is thanks to the sunroof being up a bit higher though

yea if its a non-turbo rotary it'll last you plenty long with very few problems, and rebuilds are a lot cheaper than piston engines too, what more could you want?
