cleaning out my head
i need to replace the head on my car so i found one from a junk yard. it's not as dirty as the one that is in my car right now. but while i have this newer one just sitting, waiting to be installed, i wanted to go ahead and clean it up. is there anything that i can soak the head in to help lossen up the carbon deposits and get the head close to looking new again? im looking to do this myself. more that i can learn about the functions of my car. and what is a good way to clean it up a bit?

Oh man I though you were talking about cleaning out you other head... with like a shotgun or something. Oh well if you ever give that a try I would suggest a 12 gauge and some buckshot for a real thorough stripping.

a product called sea foam. BMW dealers sell them and i think NAPA does too. if BMW uses it i think i'd trust it in my integra. a couple of my friends used it on their integras and had nothing but luck. increases gas mileage, fixes erradic idling, and greatly increases acceleration.

You can also use brake parts cleaner. That will come in handy when swaping the heads, you can use it to clean the surfaces before you assemble it.
