Question about auto-headlights/R&D light controller

Ok, I've got a question. Let me know if I'm right, or if I'm waaaay out of line here.

I've been reading about these kits from R&D automotive that you can buy to override the factory auto-headlights on a 99. As far as I can tell, there is no other way to do this, but I CANNOT find one of these controllers anywhere!! I've looked on e-bay, in other forums, even tried the company's website, but still didn't work.

Now, after reading some other posts in this forum, and seeing how one of these modules was installed, I came to a question. Since you have to splice into 2 wires onthe BCM with the R&D controller, couldn't you just install a normal toggle switch on those 2 wires and have the same effect?

I might be way wrong here, and probably am, but I was just curious. I'm to the point now, I don't really care if the auto-light feature works at all. I'm sick of it. If that will not work, does anyone know any other ways to disable them? I've read on www.lightsout.org some ways to disable them, but I wanted to know all of the options. If not, does anyone know where I can get one of the R&D controllers?
