I have 2 current problems with this car. I have the 3.3 liter SE model. I can't find the low port for the air conditioning, I did find the high port. Second, what would cause the car to idle up and down while in park. I have done a full tune-up: new wires,ac delco plugs, air filter, pcv valve, fuel filter. Thanks for the help.

Re: 1993 Grand Am Problems
check out the O2 sensor and the maf sensor. Also if the throttle position sensor is going , it will idle all over the place. Others may have more to say...

Re: 1993 Grand Am Problems
The 3300 will idle up and down 50-75 rpm without haveing any major problems, its just a moody engine. lol Have you ever had trouble starting the car in par? and had to move it to nuetral for it to start? if so it may be your park/nuetral switch, very common to go out on older GAs

Re: 1993 Grand Am Problems
Thanks for the help, I will check it out more this weekend. I wanted to charge my wife's air conditioning also, but I can't find the low port on this car. The high port is on top, right behind the radiator. This would help out greatly if anyone knows where it is on this car, 1993 Grand Am, 3.3 liter.

if you can't find the problem, check all your vaccum hoses...especially the one on the right side of the black box right above your intake manifold.i had a small tear in mine and it did the same thing.your problem sounds like a vaccum leak to me.hope that helps.

Re: 1993 Grand Am Problems
I know exactly what your problem is i think. When it is in park if the little indicator light on the P is blinking or goes out and then it starts to idle up and down just give it a smack and the light will come back on and the car will idle fine. I had the same problem with my 93 grand am gt 3.3 L and i replaced all kinds of sensors but nothing worked until i had some help to figure this problem out. email me back at [email protected] if you need anymore help

Re: 1993 Grand Am Problems
The low port is usually located on the AC compressor itself. I think it has a blue color cap.

I have a 95 grand Am And I can't locate the low port either. Can you recharge the air conditioning of these models? I can see the high poing right in the front behind the radiator. Any help would be appreciated, it was 92 today and driving on I-95 with the windows down is not a whole lot of fun. Thanks.

Hey masterbs, try lying on the ground in front of your 1993 Grand AM and look up right under the front of the car. You will see the low side AC port. |

Re: 1993 Grand Am Problems
Does that are have a Mass-air flow sensor? It might be dirty. You might also have a slightly miss adjusted TPS(throttle postion sensor), or your IAC (idle air controller) might be dirty, or bad.
