Mass Air Flow Sensor?

recently, i installed a k&n cold air induction system in my 2001 V6 mustang. the problem is that my car cuts off as i let off the gas after a hard acceleration. me and a friend tried cleaning the throttle body and the intake, but the condition did not improve. we ended up unplugging the mass air flow sensor and my car has not cut off since. has anyone else had this problem? if so, what did you do? should i get an after-market sensor that adjusts for the added air or just leave my sensor unplugged? thank you

You are causing more problems by unhooking your MAF sensor. I really don't think your problem is from the CAI you added, unless you damaged the electrods of the sensor when installing.

Ok there is a few things that could've happened. The first is that there is a leak in the k&n intake you bought giving the ecu a false air reading. If the leak is past the MAF then the engine is getting more air than it thinks it's getting. The second possible problem is that some of the oil from the filter has gotten on the element wires on the MAF insulating it. This also causing the reading the MAF sends to be lower then the amount of air the engine is actually receiving. This problem is what happened to my 95 Cobra when I had it. Two ways to fix the problem. One is open up the MAF and get to the element wires. Then take a cotten swab and rubbing alcohol and CAREFULLY brush the wires. The other fix is a new MAF.

Right now your engine isn't running right without the MAF. It's looking up suggested fuel and spark maps since it doesn't know what is going on. This is reducing your economy and performance. Hook that MAF back on.
