New here, '95 Blazer Questions
Hi, everyone. Great forum.
I just bought a '95 Blazer. I have read the posts on keyless programming. If my Blazer didn't come with keyless, can you add the module and then program remotes for it? I'm assuming the wiring is already there for the module? I'd rather have OEM than aftermarket, if possible. Also, the airbag light stays on. Is there any way to reset or decode the faults without a scan tool? I used to have a Tech one, but didn't have the modules for this vehicle anyway. I also have an intermittent check engine light, the emissions label says its obd-1, but it has an obd-2 connector, can you jumper the ALDL to flash the stored codes? My rear washer hose is leaking from the left rear, anyone had this problem before? Sorry for so many questions, other than this, its a great truck. Thanks! Ed |

You have ODBI.5. This was an interim system that can be a pain in the ass... You need an ODBI scanner with the ODBII cable (Go to autozone, they will scan it for free) the paper clip trick won't work on it.. If you want to check the connection on your airbag module, it's in the passenger side kickpanel... Just replace the squirter hose... ![]() No probs on the questions... That's what we're here for

Thanks for the ideas so far. Is there a known issue with the airbag? This was a one owner car, its never been wrecked.
The "check engine" doesn't really worry me, its obviously an intermittent fault that may go away after the first round of tune up, plugs, wires, etc. The rear squirter hose is hard plastic, and it goes through the rear interior behind the trim. Its like a Chinese puzzle, trying to figure out how to get the trim out of the way so I can bridge it with some rubber hose. I'm going to check Ebay for a service manual. On the keyless, there's no AU8. There's no wiring for the module already there? I really hate aftermarket keyless. Thanks for the help so far. Ed |

Re: New here, '95 Blazer Questions
I'd still get the codes pulled (You can get it done free at autozone) As to the keyless, in order to put factory in, you would have to have the ECM reflashed, get the body harness, and get the keyless module...Personally I prefer aftermarket because you get remote start and other options, longer range (oem is 35 feet)...

I 2nd on the aftermarket. Directed Electronics has a real nice one out now. You can get them as Valet with 1 year warranty or Python with lifetime. Take a look www.directed.com
