Engine/Transmission Swapping

Does anyone know how much it would typically cost at a mechanic to say swap a messed up 350 TPI with a better 350 TPI. Or how much would it cost to swap a messed Tranny with a better one?

I'm not 100% accurate on this one but i do know that you will probably end up paying just as much for the labor as you paid for the engine itself, if not more. I just know that labor kills you. That is unless you have good contacts with people and you might get a discount but all i can tell you is that labor is more of a hastle and a money issue than buying the actual parts. Now about the tranny, my advice would be to get some books on transmissions, read up on them, learn alot about them, and then apply that knowledge and do it yourself. Might not be a time saver but surely is a MONEY saver.

I can personally vouch for how much tranny work can cost seeing as how I've had 2 of them rebuilt in the last 6 months. An A3 in my dodge for $620 and am M6, clutch and fly wheel in my T/A for $1600...
