Re: Eprom Ecu

I found out that you have to open it up and look on the chip and it will have a E on it. If you do you have a EPROM ECU and they r very rare the guy said.

Re: Eprom Ecu

The E has nothing to do with anything. I heard from people that had E ecus that were not eprom. Its simple. Open it up, and there will be an EPROM or there wont be one Go to www.tmo.com to find pics of what it looks like and where it is. Takes 10-15 minutes total.

EPROM on 95 is actually common. I had the rare non-eprom ECU in my 95. It was built in june of 95 so its practically a 96. Earlier 95s typically do have an EPROM ECU.

Re: Eprom Ecu

I heard that they were used in the first year because mitsu was unsure how the code would work out, perhaps bcause they implemented OBDII before it was a requirement, and having an EPROM ECU would greatly simplify implementing a fix in the event of a problem/recall.

The reson one would want an EPROM ECU is that its the only way to run a chip like DSMlink, TMO, Keydiver, etc.
