97 528 New Brakes/Rotors-Too Noisy?
I recently had new brakes and rotors installed on my 97 528. The car makes an extremely loud high pitched noise when braking? Is this a normal thing or should I return it to the mechanic who did the work? Thanks.

I used to drive the same car but never had this problem - I would stop by a BMW garage and ask them for an opinion (without saying you just had it done). Then go back to your mechanic!

its not normal, more than likely something is loose or was not tightened properly, ihave the same 97 528 and had to take my car back to the mechanic to have the bolts retouched and that solved the problem, also keep in mind that when u do your brakes u should use oem parts or top quality performance parts -the car is very sensitive

bmw are prone to brake noise the brake pads need some "Brake pad grease" on the back of them helps keep the sqealing down. As for how i know this i one day was looking at my pads and noticed "wet or greasey substance on the pads and thinking that was not right i used brake cleaner and removed it needless to say my brakes squeal from time to time now. maybe mechanic needs to add some of this on the back of the pads this may help
