code P 1762

I have searched the whole internet for a description of this code P 1762. My darn warranty just ran out, and now I get the engine light and code. Anyone know what the code means? I am about to take it in to the shop, but I really can't afford it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Matt

Re: code P 1762

You should have a runability concern. Like shifts real quik from one gear to the next, low power like.
Or it can feel taking off in too high of a gear. Also can maybe not upshift automatically.

The best thing to do is have it verified be reading the data stream with a scanner. Most tranny(and GR) shops should understand this data. 95% of the time its time to renew the Govenor pressure solenoid and Govenor pressure sensor(Transducer) Unless there are wiring issues or PCM itself.

IS it a pain to replace the Govenor pressure solenoid and Govenor pressure sensor? Are they expensive? I just moved, and have no real shop that I trust here. And man, I just can't afford to pay a ton of money right now.

I have it parked, because like you say, it has a drivability issue. It won't shift from first till like 3500 rpm, and feels like it is towing my 25' trailer!!!

Re: code P 1762

The solenoids are about $350 or so from the dealer(my area) They are in fairly plain site once the trans pan is off. Its not too easy to do. Things could go real ugly in a blink of an eye. It should be anywhere from about $400 to $600 parts and labor. It just depends on the shop.

Sure beats a $2500 rebuild.

I know of a trans shop in Bellflower called Community transmission. Don't know them personally but they're members of TRNi so I would recommend them. Also theres General Transmission right around there somewhere(Can't remember town) Been in there, looks like a nice place.

If this was 35 years ago you could go to my fathers shop in Fullerton

Good luck!
