What should I do?

Well I got a 79 Trans am with a 6.6L 403. Everything in the engine is pretty much stock except i took the belt off going to my air condintioning and their was a ticking in my motor so i want up town and found out it was from my emissions system so the guy took the thing out. So the ticking stoped but and he put two new mufflers on it sence they both had holes in them. Anyway I want it to sound better and be loud without being so loud that i get pulled over and I have no idea what i should do. Theres so many chooses for mufflers and glass packs and i dont know anything about them. So so hopefully someone could give me some advice on what would be the best sounding and loud glass packs, mufflers, or whatever to get for my car. Also I know there where alot of laws and stuff put out that made these engine not as powerful as some of the early ones so if anyone know anything i can do to make this car better that'd be awsome! Thanks.

Re: What should I do?

ok well exhaust will give you a good boost on power and it will sound awsome

for your next step start looking for a cam and intake, then after that do a full rebuild with forged pistons and a new carb, after that get some new alluminum heads or have yours ported alot and then hit it with some nitrous to finnish it off, but before heads you could think about having your posi rebuilt and a new set of gears

after all that work have fun hitting 11's in the 1/4

Exhaust cutout, lets you switch from regular exhaust system to open headers.

Re: What should I do?

the 80 series is for a single exhaust setup it goes behind the diff mouted sideways and verticly they are loud for single with dual tips but not as loud as true dual with the 40 series

just get a pair for center in/out 2.5's and go to an exhaust shop and have dual put in also do headers...
