I just left my HBT USA and they had two of these kit for $10 each.

I did some search and I couldn't find any progress in these kits.
What do you think about thema and tips and what should I be aware?

Thank

If that koenig 500sl is a fujimi i have that kit but in yellow (paid like $8) but its not all that detailed. Seems like it could be pretty goood looking from a distance though.

Its in seattle now at my parents house.

oh well.

The GTV is supposedly very good with an excellently detailed engine.

I'd swap the wheels, but it's a very good kit.

Re: Just picked couple new kits...

If the Koenig benz is anything like the "super inch up 300CE" that I just bought to pirate the brembos and wheels from, then it is going to be pretty basic...The wheels have polycaps but mount on fullwidth brass axle rods, the hood is separate but there is no engine bay , not to mention the chrome grille is moulded into the black bonnet so needs some major BMF'ing or something. The interior is pretty average on detail. Wheels and main body shell are nice though!
The benz I got has full wrap windows so I'm going to spray the interior one color, tint the hell out of the windows, and carve up the chassis to get some aoshima 19" VIP rims way up into the wheelarches. Which by the way if its anything like the 300, will need doing because there is very little room under the wheelarches in mine.
Also the add on bodykit parts in the coupe I got fit over the stock body, and really need the body relieved underneath, yours may be the same.

It may of course be a much nicer kit, but I'd be guessing its of similar heritage to the kit I got..

Thank everyone for replys.
The kit is Koenig 600SL Coupe Fujimi RS-38. But honestly I don't know what is the diferense.
I'm planing to build it straight from the box, may be swaping 19" or 20" into it.

But Alfa will got thru bodyshop for sure.
Something like seen on this site

But I am open for ideas.

Thanks again

Paul

Smile Here's my Koenig Benz...

I lowered it, added the wheels and widened the track of the wheels. Interior is rather sparse. Not a bad deal for 10 bucks. I paid 25 bucks for mine .

Re: Just picked couple new kits...

All I did was to cut the front struts into 2 pieces, remove a little material, and then super-glue the struts back together. It helps to have a pin vise so you can drill a hole into each end of the strut so you can insert a piece of metal rod into the drilled holes so you can provide some strength.

Re: Just picked couple new kits...

Thank a lot. DO you know if the same method would work on all of the models?

Re: Just picked couple new kits...

It depends on the type of suspension each model has.

Re: Just picked couple new kits...

I just massacred the chassis of the 300CE I'm building- it now has no wheelarches, I had to carver about 3mm out of the chassis rails in the back, and I had to cut the sump out, and drill holes through the chassis rails to slot the axle into (about 7mm lower than where the normal mount is below the rails) .....NOW its low I also carved 2mm off the gearbox mounting, so now its got 1.5mm ground clearance... I think I'm using bersaglio spoke rims, they suit late 80's benz's VERY well...
The best thing is that its got full windows, so I can be really lazy with the interior..
I like these cheap old fujimi benz kits!

Re: Just picked couple new kits...

tonioseven, how much of the matherial did you remove?
In first I thought about putting together entire suspencion and then look how much I have to lover it for. But then I never used cement before (Thanks to AF for teaching that there is better glue than Super glue . You can't even emagine how I felt when I detailed every part and then when it comes to putting it together 1-3" in every direction from glued place becomes white: everything from strut bar to winshield.) so I do not know how it will be to take something apart especialy suspension.

Thanks
Paul

Paul, check my "How-to", it could be applied to most Fujimi kits.
