86z28 problems

so sometimes , the car will just lose power , like theres times when i gun it , it will just lose all power sometimes its in 3rd , shit its even happened in first , basicly it feels like theres not enough gas getin to the engine , so if i step on teh gas anymore nothin will happen , but if up shift it will go away , ive changed the fuel filter the fuel pump is workin , um i need to check the wires and plugs but basicly my question was what else should i check? it doesnt spit anycodes out but i might need to check the circiuts cause i know the cigeratte lighter is out along with some others(dont know if there on the same one)
i know there was another thread like this but my problem seems alittle differnt

um i know i kinda explained it weird but bare with me

Re: 86z28 problems

sounds like a jetting problem, more like your either fooding the engine with air or fuel, so its either a gas or an air problem. check your fuel filter, if its clogged it could cause that.

This is just a couple of ideas to think about. Ok the first would be to check to see if the catalytic converter is plugged Cause that will cause a major power lose. And secondly if your carb is a quadrajet than it may need to be torn down and cleaned and a rebuild kit($15) put in it.

Some ideas

I have the same car. I was havin similar problems. It'd almost feel like my car was about to die out if i stepped right on the gas. Do you plugs wires cap and rotor, i did the coil as well, fixed mine. Anyways, my cat was also plugged, felt a little different. There was no power. I was on the highway and couldnt hear my exhaust like I should. If i was at 75, and wanted to blow another cars doors off, if i switched her down to 4th, i'd just decelerate. have someone rev the car and feel the eexhaust flow from the tailpipes, or even grab the tailpipes after it's ran a while. If they aint hot, your cat is plugged. But give it a little tune up as well. Hope I helped.
