hey guys i have a bad head gasket NEED HELP FAST!!
hey guys i have a 97' gs non turbo with apexi n1 full cat back obx headers and cai i went to "hell" as you call it (mitsu dealer) cause fwd eclipse have lower ball joint recalls .... make a long story short .... one of the mechanics sed my head gasket was leaking i want to change it myself and actually i have asked eclipserst to come by since he is familar with this... but one of my other guys told me that if i take the head off then obviously my timing belt comes off too but if the cam gears move a degree off than my timing will skip and collapse my engine? i have no idea what to do guys please help me out.

no they will not go off a degree, actually the cam gears have marks on them so you have to set them to set the timing right! they will not make your engine collapse!

I think he means if he puts it back together a tooth off the valves can hit the pistons and destroy the head/motor. Terrible usage of terminology, but hey, we all have to start somewhere
 Are the NT motors interference?

it wont blow up if not timed right... you will just bend valves
 anyways... well i got back sunday night from chicago, went there to replace his HG and man was that a pain in the ass, the main reason cause he didnt want to buy the gasket kit so the only thing i could take off of the head was the header! talk about a bitch! well after 5 hrs of struggling with it we finally got it off and back on, then it took us about an hr to put everything back together again! 6hrs to do a 2-1/2 hr job PITA!!!! cold as hell too! damn that makes it 2200 miles in back to back weekends, anyone else need help while i'm at it so then i can make it 3 weekends in a row?!?!

Make the trip to mass, and not only will I not make you work on my car in the cold (but we can peruse my heated garage if youre interested
 ) but beers, wings, and hooters are on me. You're a champ. I used to do a ton of work for the local DSM club, so I know it takes a lot out of you. Not to mention the crazy distances you go, lol. Good man.

lol... hell yea i'm up for everything! well i will be out that way in June... my aunt lives in CT and i am goin to visit her before i go down to tallahasse, FL in the first week in July so if you need any help then or just wanna meet up and party or somthing thats cool too!
