Z71 Suspension Improvement

I have a 1998 Z71. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with suspension upgrades for this truck. I would like the truck to sit a little higher without a lift. Can this be done with load leveling suspension?

For the front, you could crank the torsion bars a little, or get some Ford torision bar keys and install them.
As for the back, an add-a-leaf kit would do it, as well as a lift block placed under the leaf springs. There are several ways to accomplish this.

Re: Z71 Suspension Improvement

It depends on how high your trying to go. Are you just wanting to run bigger tires or are you wanting a better ride? I agree with jeverett. You do have some options. As far as torsion bar adjustment you can get between 1/2 inch to as much as 2 inches in the front. If you put the ford keys in there you could get a little more, maybe 3 inches or so. The back can be done with add a leaf or blocks like jeverett said. But if you do your front it will give you a nice level look and allow you to run bigger tires without a problem. Just remember that both of these options are going to decrease your ride quality. As far as how much depends on your truck and your opinion I guess. I raised my t-bars and I dont think it affected the ride very much. But I have heard some people hated it and lowered it back down. The same with the rear. Your truck will ride more like a truck!

Re: Z71 Suspension Improvement

I did the add a leaf and torsion bar adjustment on my 2000 silverado and love it. I got about 2 inch. out of the front and the same in the rear. cost $175.00 well worth the effort took about 4 hours to complete all the work
