as rico demonstrated,anybody who is banned can easily get back in simply by re-registering under a new username.Short of laying a complaint with the user's ISP there seems to be little that anyone can do to totally lock out the idiots(if they are really obsessive,they will just change ISP anyway).The only real solution is to ban them every time they are offensive.And if they are not offensive - why ban them again anyway?

Since it is so easy to return under a new name,it would be difficult to figure out how many of those"banned"simply log on again the next day.

It would be interesting to know how many times this option has been used though,and how many people have successfully argued against a ban.

We are able to view peoples I.P.s so when they reregister we simply ban them again.
Since none of us Mods have a life, (its one of the requirments) its not that hard to do. you just watch as new members sign up, and use the View new Posts function and check IPs on new members.
Richo was a very unusualy exception, but in the end we won, it took a lot of work by KBS and Jay, but it happened.

Im not aware of any Banned members being returned, alltough it can be done.

I think we ban about 1-2 ppl a week, but a lot of those are spammers just trying to get away with advertising. It actualy takes a lot of disrespect and some poor behaviour before a member will get banned, and we take all posible steps to talk to them and try and sort out the problems first.

I am sure that people who are looking to cause trouble will have the same behavioral pattern...and my guess is those mods who have been around here awhile are pretty keen on recognizing that.

but i was unable to log into the forums
for about 2 weeks
i was finally able to get an email reply from af
and all they said is that i had been banned
and im not sure why
so i had to resign up

but i would really like to know why i had been banned in the first place?
