94 GMC Truck problem please help!!
I am having trouble with my 94 GMC Sierra and am looking for advice. About a week ago it started cutting out when accelerating between 50 and 70 mph. It runs fine below those speeds and pretty good above them also. I first thought it was a bad tank of gas but since have used gas treatment and problem has not improved. Then it feels like the engine is taking in to much air or fuel because it cuts out then catches and returns to normal when I either release the gas pedal or give it more gas. So I replaced the PCV value. Still the problem exists. I am at a loss and am hoping someone whom knows more about this truck than I can give me some direction. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Re: 94 GMC Truck problem please help!!
try the throttle position sensor. It could be hoopty in the cruising range. whenever you are cruising, it sometimes cuts out, but when you move the gas pedal, it causes the tps to signal again. Might be the problem, might not, but its a starting point

Try changing the fuel filter. they are located under the driver's side near the frame. a clogged fuel filter will not let the proper amount of pressure be delivered to the throttle body fuel injector. the vehicle will run fine on low speeds, but will have trouble when trying to accelerate.

7-iron. Did you find a resolution to your problem? My 94 Yukon is doing the same thing. My truck runs fine except for the range between cruising to light throttle, regardless of speed. There is a slight engine surge and is more pronounced at times, but usually not very noticeable as most times the engine is accelerating or decelerating. However, I cant help but think this contributes to the poor gas mileage and would like it fixed. If it is the throttle position sensor, is there a way to test it?

Re: 94 GMC Truck problem please help!!
GMC says they back their products, but i have a GMC built transmission that was had a gaurentee of 3 years or 60000 kms. their new warrenty is for 90000 kms.
i have just over 20000 kms on my trans and it kicked it. i maintain it as i should, and drive it in normal expected conditions. i have contacted my local GMC dealer and they told me that they would not stand behind their work or their warrenty. I recommend to all not to buy GMC products of any kind, they will leave you high and dry, with an empty wallet. ps - No one told me GMC stood for Gimmie More Cash |
