GM instructed me to return my 2002 Impala with the defective Driver Instrumentation Center (30% ERROR ON ALL FUEL RELATED READOUTS) to my dealer for action. This is the second time I have had the car in for the SAME problem. IT WAS NOT FIXED LAST TIME AND IT WAS NOT FIXED THIS TIME!
Quote -" 18 to 25% ERRORS are CONSIDERED NORMAL" !!!!! THIS IS ACTUALLY STATED ON THE INVOICE! I have NEVER seen this much ERROR quoted on any instrumentation device! My ERROR has been even worse than that --- 30% and the dealer and GM states that they cannot fix it! AMAZING! They are not even standing behind their own SPECIFICATIONS! When "Fuel Used" shows that I have consumed 12 gallons - IT ACTUALLY USED 16 gallons and they state THIS IS ACCEPTABLE! Anyone else out there agree that this is a NORMAL accuracy for a precision high $$$$ instrumentation package? |

Re: Update - Defective Driver Information Center
This is also not acceptable to me! I have had a buick and a caddy and both were very accurate with fule used and mpg. I can't believe chevy cannot fix this problem? Who do we complain to next?

HI Jontao - I finally had to take the case to the Better Business Bureau and explain to them the problem. All I asked for was to have the
unit reprogrammed! and GM REFUSED! we all know that it is a software / firmware fix -...... BBB was very good in solving this and GM and I worked out a good mutual solution - it did not fix the unit but the alternate solution was acceptable. Email me direct if u like. Let me know how you do with BBB/GM. |
