Manifold Talk

Are the manifolds on ebay by SSautochrome any good or not? Seems like there's always two totally different opinions on ever piece I'm trying to get for my custom turbo setup. The manifolds seem to go for 200-300 dollars and I'm pretty sure they're stainless steel. If it's a reasonable manifold, or if you know of any other better ones in the same price range let me know.

Also, how do you know if the manifold, turbo and downpipe will match up if your building a custom kit. I know the bolt patterns matter on the turbo and manifold, but what if I get a manifold that sits too low in the engine bay and the downpipe i buy ends up dragging the ground........

Re: Manifold Talk

if you are building a custom kit, you just answered your own question, its custom, so customize it if it won't fit, same for the downpipe. I had to as well, and mine was a "kit". as far as quality manifolds, have you googled the word 'turbo' and you cars model and/or the word 'manidfold', if not, I suggest you do.

as far as reliable mfrs, well, ebay ain't the place to find them...

try Inline pro, lovefab, south florida performance, revhard, drag, etc etc etc. it will always come down to what you are willing to spend.

Stay as far away from the ssautochrome as possible! They are cheap, made from thin steel, the wastegate is prone to breaking right off, and it is in a bad position so it leads to boost creep, and the entire manifold has very bad problems with cracking.

if you are going with a turbo with a T3 exhaust housing and an external waste gate then you can contact dragturbokits.com. They have very heavy cast manifolds that are good for daily driving and position your exhaust housing right in the center of the engine block and very close to it so you can clear power steering, a/c or any other thing you might have there.
