GTP car club clash

For those of you who dont know, i use to be the announcer at an NHRA 1/4 mile track in a little town called earlville ia. I was there for 3 years and just got burnt out on seeing the same cars bracket race every weekend and quit about 3 seasons ago. I played alot of golf and kind of drifted away from the dragstrip but still staying friends with the track owners also filled in a few times. Anyways i was not really in to grand prixs and didnt pay them much attention. I mean if it wasnt on its back wheels running 7s and 8s and still street legal i simply didnt care, i mean how do you get excited and excite the crowd with a bunch of 11,12 and 13 second trailer queens? Well now that i had an oppurtunity to not only drive 1 of these front wheel drive monsters but own 1 now i am excited as hell to get back to the track. I just recieved the 04 schedule and see that there is gonna be 3 races this year mainly for gtp's and the first 1 is april 18th. Im stoked and hope to meet some of you there, also i still have some pretty good pull at the track so if you think of anything i can help you guys with or something you want announced let me know, hell i may even announce between my runs. I would promise any of you an awesome time here. They have a campground with full hookups and showers and there is always sure to be a camp fire with some serious beverage drinking going on after the races. For more info you can contact me at [email protected] (i can e-mail you my phone number) or www.tristateraceway.com (track mgr. bill cassill). This track is 1 of only 3 all concrete tracks in the country(no transition from concrete to asphalt) and is thought to be the fastest track in the country (by alot of street legal guys). If anyone wants a background check on my ability and knowledge check out www.crazyspeed.com and ask anyone about "slammin sammy". I swear these races will be a blast.

Thats a sweet track

I attended the T Bird / GP clash after just having the cam and pcm done. Went 13.2's and got my first 1.9 60ft. Went home with the clash trophey and a huge smile.

Good times, good times

Here in St. Louis, we had a local announcer that kind of went semi-big time with the IHRA.. His name is Brett Kepner.. In his "hey day" as a local announcer he added so much wit and humor to the job that it keep everyone fully involved in even the slowest bracket racers..

I remember the time he described this guys "clapped out piece of $hit" old Camaro, that was oil smoking like a chinney.. That it looked like a Funny Car doing a quartermile burnout ..

Just thought I'd throw that in since you were in the field.. These GTP are strong runners.. I only wish they were All Wheel Drive.. With AWD they could launch like a catapult..Even on stock street rubber.. As there are now.. 1/3 throttle from a stop, causes squeeling tires..

Re: GTP car club clash

If it wasn't that expensive to take my ride there deffinetly I would. Here in PR only the guys driving BMW's and Porsches gather to do that. I am working on starting a local http://www.clubgp.com chapter but would be awesome to go there a be with a lot of GP's and guys like you people.
