Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM 2000 Team Original-Teile (* Progress Pics *)

Started this one two weeks ago.

Since this model was in black plastic (this is the Warsteiner one because I used the Original-Taile to do the Service 24h car) there was a lot of priming and painting to do. Four coats of white primer, one coat of TS-30 and two of TS-54 (Light Metallic Blue) on the front part, and three coats of AS-20 (Insignia White) on the rest of the body. Panel lines were made with a mixture of semi gloss black, thinner and a bit of white. I glued all the body parts before painting because I thins this way we get a better result.
This will be the car used by Peter Dumbreck in the 2000 DTM season. More progress to come

Off to a great start. I couldn't agree more about glueing the body together before paint. It is always sturdier and no last minute disasters glueing panels together after all the paint and decal work.

Started already the decals placement.

If you’re planning to build this model don’t do like me starting from the front session.
Begin with decals number 4 and 5 because they must be under two decals that I already placed. Nothing that some work with an blade can’t resolve but is easier to do it the right way. This decals are great. Easy to work and they react really well with the solvents. More progress pics soon.

Man that looks real sweet, I just love that livery and the colour matching between the paint on the front end and the decals looks spot on.

Looking great so far, Nuno. I never get sick of the Original-Teile livery!
A couple of questions if you don't mind: Did you find TS-54 became darker as you applied more coats like TS-50 does? and which decal solvent are you using?

Thank you for your comments.
New update. The body is now completed with all of decals. It took me a lot of time to finish but as I refer previously this decals are great.

The body will wait for some days before receive a good clear coat and then be polished and waxed.
I’m ready to begin working on the engine and suspensions.

Yes. It goes darker every coat we apply.
My solution was to give a coat of TS-30 and start giving light coats of TS-54.
After the second coat it was a perfect match with the decals so I stooped.
I’m using Micro Set and Micro Sol from Microscale.
