ok guys and gals, as promised, i did a butt load of research and reading on 3si and i came up with the following info which i believe is all correct:
japonese 3000 GT's are called GTO's. the TT model there is the same as the VR-4 model here. there was also a MR model that about 500 of which were made and they were the top of the line GTO's in japan. i believe ALL TT models in japan came with 9b turbos, just like here in the U.S. and it is a common mistake for many people to think that they come with 13G's. the reason for this confusion is probably because the 13G is such a common upgrade over there that many who have purchased GTO engines used got them with 13G's on them. also the 13G's did come on the european cars. sources from mitsubishi in japan say that the MR came with 11G turbos, which can easily be confused with the 13G turbos because they look almost the same. also the GTO MR's ran in the 12.8x range stock. there is videos but none that i saw links to were valid links anymore. other differences in the MR from the VR-4 or the GTO TT were the final drive gear ratio and the lack of AWS and ABS and some other little things to drop the weight. some things that i did not come to a conclusion on: the GTO equivelent of the SL i have heard was called the SR and i have heard several times was AWD (i think it was from a reliable source) but i could not find confirmation for this. i could also not find confirmation that the european cars (and austrailian cars too maybe) come with 13G's but that seems to be the general agreement. i also do not think i found any decisive proof either way on if the 280 hp limit in japan is a gentelman's agreement, a law, something that they are supposed to do but they are just underrated, etc. it might be in one of the following links but i am not sure. the links below are some of the most informative that i found but some have B.S. in them especially at first so read through carefully. as i said, i could not find working links to the MR running 12.8x stock but i have seen them before so they are out there somewhere. i even included the thread where i said that the japonese TT's had 13G turbos and was corrected enjoy http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....ight=GTO+video http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....ight=GTO+video http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....ight=GTO+video http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....ight=GTO+video http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....hlight=GTO+13G http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....light=JDM+USDM http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....light=JDM+USDM i have read most of all of these threads. it took me well over an hour with reading and searching and picking out the best threads so i hope you all enjoy it

not all euro's came with the 13g's, and yes all GTO's were awd

all european TT's did right? that is what i ment, sorry. good clarification. or unless some were turbo stock and not 13G's, if that is the case, could you elaborate?

many people on other boards that i have been on with some euro vr-4 owners said that not all came with 13g's some were like ours but most were 13g i don't understand why so don't ask but these are my findings

Im pretty sure the MR is not the top of the line model, thats the twin turbo or VR4. The MR is the racing bread.
