Lightbulb prelude engine

well i know that for those nissan people out there have a fancy site devoted to the SR20 engine called sr20forum.com and i was wondering if there is a h22 or something like that forums site just devoted to the honda and its engine's... i am looking to buy a 5th gen prelude so i was wondering if there are any engines out there better than the h22a that will swap easy into a 5th gen prelude... if you happen to know anything that may help me let me know please.

Re: prelude engine

Nothing easy.. h22 is pretty much top notch for the prelude.

Re: prelude engine

All the Prelude engines and codes:

B20A3 Honda Prelude 2.0 S 1990-1991
B20A5 Honda Prelude 2.0 Si 1990-1991
B20A5 Honda Prelude Si 1988-1989
B20A5 Honda Prelude Si 1988-1989
B21A1 Honda Prelude Si 1990-1991
F22 Honda Prelude Si 1992-1996
F22A1 Honda Prelude S 1992-1996
H22 Honda Prelude VTEC 1992-1996
H22A Honda Prelude SiR (JDM) 1997-2001
H22A Honda Prelude 1999-2001
H22A Honda Prelude Type S (JDM) 1997-2001
H22A1 Honda Prelude 1997-1998
H22A1 Honda Prelude VTEC 1994-1996
H23 Honda Prelude Type S (JDM) 1993-1995
H23A1 Honda Prelude SE/Si 1992-1996

Engine HP Ratings
B20A5 2.0L DOHC non-VTEC 87-91 Prelude 2.0Si 135hp
B21A1 2.1L DOHC non-VTEC 90-91 Prelude Si 145hp
F22A1 2.2L USDM non-VTEC 92-96 Prelude S 90-93 Accord LX/EX
130hp-135hp
H22A1 2.2L USDM DOHC VTEC 92-96 Prelude VTEC 190hp
H22A4 2.2L DOHC VTEC 97-01 Prelude VTEC/SH 97-98: 195hp 99-01: 200hp
H22A 2.2L JDM DOHC VTEC 92+ Prelude Type-S, 97+ Prelude SiRS Spec 220ps
H23A1 2.3L USDM DOHC non-VTEC Prelude Si 160hp

In theory, you want the Type S, but a regular 190hp h22a can reach the same hp (and beyond) without doing an entire swap.

how much hp does a H23A, no numbers after the A. I know it's jdm, but in terms of hp, were there any differences between JDM H23A and USDM H23A1

Re: prelude engine

I don't believe there is any power difference.

Re: prelude engine

I have heard of the h23a3 or something like that. its the 160hp with vtec. I don't know if there is differents between the h23a and h23a3. does any one know?
And who would win if the raced? mod for mod or stock to stock?

PS not sure if its the h23a3. I just know there is another engine like the h23a with vtec?

Re: prelude engine

That's right! I'm not sure if its called h23a3 or not, but... There is a bluetop h23a block with variable valve timing found on the 99-00 JDM Honda Accord SiR Wagon. I *think* it's 200hp... It's simply an h23a block with a h22a head (What alot of people are doing now..)

Re: prelude engine

just like aceshigh just said, the only thing better than a h22a, would be an h23 block, way built with a vtec head and all the other crap that has to be done with it. sounds like too much work to me (and money). anyhow, if you're into projects and swaps, i've always wondered if anyone's tried to fit a 3.5vtec in a lude.
