Speedo cable

Ok so my speedo has been broken since I got my car. I checked the conection into the tranny and the connection behind the cluster, both were in. I removed the cable from the back of the cluster and took it for a spin. I'm not sure, but if the cable was working ok, I would see the little tab inside moving, right? Well I didn't see it moving. Does this just sound like a broken cable? And do I have to go to the dealer to get a new one?

Re: Speedo cable

if you took your cluster off and drove, but the wire still didnt move, then either your cable is broken or the speedo sensor is broken

I had this same problem last summer, and I know this isnt going to help at all, but all I did was unplug it and re-plug it in like 10 times, and blew in the hole, and wiped off the end of the cable. I feel like such a retard now, doing those things, but you know, it worked. I dont know why, but for some reason, I plugged it in that last time, and it worked right there. It was so funny...
