coilover kit or struts and springs

i have been planing on getting a coilever system, like a jic flat a1, for example, but i dont know if i want to spend that much money, i was wondering if it would be better just to buy some kyb gas shock/struts and like some new springs, which would cost like $450 rather than the $1000 for the coilover kit, lemme know what u guys think.

Well… all that I can tell you is my experience, I had RS*R springs on KYBs (front only stock rear!) I saved up for 2 month and got the Tien coil over for 1200 and the difference is ridicules!

I used to clear the off ramp of the freeway at 65 km no t could do it at 85! And I’m not even pushing it! (Ramp exit speed is 25mph)

I don't know, springs did me well, but I do go to the canyons quite regularly and the extra stiffness and adjustment helped allot....

People sell a cheap setup on ebay sometimes. Has tokico struts and tokico springs for around 400 all together. Not the best performance u could get but they are matched together and fairly cheap. Plus tokico isn't THAT bad of a suspension brand. Get that and later on find some decently balanced set of Sway Bars and it should hold up pretty good. Plus u can always find those 15 dollar strut bar deals on ebay every once in awhile if your patient.

check out that, 430 bucks buy it now free shipping, 1" drop tokico springs, and blue struts. Sounds like a decent deal for a budget minded person.

and

for about 50 bucks shipped heres a set of cheapy strut tower bars

for a daily driver u don't really need to spend so much on suspension. If it were my car I'd prolly just get a set of springs, struts, strut bars, sway bars, bushings, and subframe spacers.

All that stuff can be had for less then a grand, less then the price of coilovers and will give you better performance then coilovers alone.

If you were going all out Id say go for coilovers, new aftermarket A arms, control arms, roll cage welded to front and rear subframes, and everything mentioned above. I would also seriously consider just making the roll cage the rear subframe and putting it in t he proper spaces to bolt on the suspension components at the factory locations(sort of like a tubed frame chassis car). This would be a good 10,000 for everything.

Teins making the "Basic" coilover now for around 750 which is about what you would pay for decent springs and struts

its not ride adjustable but it is single height adjustable.

Re: coilover kit or struts and springs

Mookeeh Is A Great Coilover System. Adjustable Spring Perches, 0-4" Height Adjustability, Dampening Adjust And Quality Spring Rates..... The Other Kit You Should Look Into Is K-sport Or D2 Racing Coilovers, These Are Awesome And I Can Get A Set W/ Adjustable Upper Front Mounts And Pillow Rears For Around $600 + Shipping.. These Have Adjustable Spring Perches And Adjustable Lower Mounts For An Extreme Drop, 36-way Dampening Adjust, Front Camber Adjust, And Also Selectable Spring Rates.

Strut/spring Combo Will Never Compare To A Good Coilover Setup.
