jet performance chips

at the momenti have a stock 1996 dodge intrepid ES 3.5L i adore this car yet want to make it better... after looking things over, one of the only upgrades i can seem to make (short of custom made air filter... which i would like aem to make) is to get one of these jet performance chips. anyone know anything about them that can help me out? i saw a guy who was showing off his car who had one and just talked wonders about it. is it worth it? also... i checked the site and they said i needed to take off my existing chip and send it in to their facility or something of that nature? can ANYONE help me out here?
