My $600 Oil Change

So I went to the shop I always go to to get my oil and fluids done, and the guy comes out and it turns out my tires are almost illegal and the metal is starting to poke through them. So I get those done. About 15 minutes later, it turns out my alignment hasnt been done in who knows how long and my strut bolts are jammed, so they now have to warm those up and put in new ones. So after all that crap I had to pay $600, I think a little more, I dont feel like looking at the receipt now. I also found out I need a transmission mount and that my anti-lock brakes arent working. Also, the bands in my tranny are slipping, but he said I only need the tranny service to fix that. He said the brakes could be fixed by getting a computer for it or something, but he didnt go into detail, is that what he said? I know my main computer has something wrong with it and I need a new one of those, could that have been it? About how much does that run? Hopefully after the rest of this stuff is repaired I can be done for a while.

Is your ABS light on? If not you have no problem!

I would get a second opinion on the tranny issue, I don't think a trans service would fix that!

Strut bolts jammed??? Don't think so!

I would not recommend going back there again! Go get a second opinion from a real shop.

Re: My $600 Oil Change

well something was def wrong with tyhe struts, when someone would get in on the right side, the rear right would make a loud clunk, it no longer does that, and the car runs smoother, may be because of the tires. what is there to do to the tranny, it clunks when i turn the car on and he said the bands are probably slipping and new tranny fluids would be a smart move, or i suppose buy a 1500rebuilt tranny for it.

yeah, the ABS light is on.

The telltale is the tranny fluid. If it smells like burnt rubber, then the plates are being stripped. If not, no worries!
