water in passenger floor and sloshing sound behind dash, HELP

My wife has a 2000 blazer and the floor on the passenger side gets wet from time to time and right now there is this lovely sloshing sound behind the dash whenever you turn the vehicle. I would assume something is clogged but what could it be and what do I do to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

the air conditioning drain is plugged. i'm not sure where it's located but usually their around the firewall somewhere on the bottom of the hvac box. try blowing some compressed air in it that usually does the trick.

Hi, I have a 2000 doing the same thing, minus the wetness on the floor. I checked the AC drain and the cowl drain, both drain fine. When I accelerate from a stop, it sounds like water sloshing around under the glove box area.

My windows don't fog up and my antifreze level hasn't went down.

What did you end up doing to fix the sloshing noise?

Thanks,
Mike

The sloshing is from the heater core and the water is probably from the heater core.

Does it smell like coolant and does the windows fog up?

I narrowed down the problem a little more. I don't get any liquid inside the Blazer, just a liquid sloshing noise when accelerating from a stop. I took out the right fender liner and the AC drain is clear. The cowl drain is also clear and drains good.

Thanks,
Mike

The sloshing noise is from air in the heater core.

Replace your rad cap.

I would have to agree with Blazer T. The sound you are hearing is rad coolant through your heater core. Unfortunately due to that wonderful coolant that GM puts in their vehicles "Dexcool" you are just at the beginning of your problems. At this time if you do a coolant flush you may be able to save your heater core but in all likely nesss it is toast. assume that it has to be replaces as it is probably original. The bad nes is that it is a $60 part and 8 hrs labour. If you are patient you can do it your self.

If you flush now you can prolong your agony

Regards
SIV

Re: water in passenger floor and sloshing sound behind dash, HELP

This is just not correct.

Dexcool is reactive to air which is the major cause of its failure which is mostly caused by air getting into the system via a bad rad cap.

Dexcool is very good at what it does if you keep the air out.

Dexcool/heater core. Flush, replace with green stuff, and replace heater core

Good article, replacing the radiatior cap stoped the sloshing noise. The coolant looks red and is pretty clear. I'll flush it and replace the anti freeze next weekend.

Thanks,
Mike

If it is clear, you won't have to worry about it.

What you will have to do is monitor the overflow resevoir and top it up as the now properly sealed cooling system will displace the sir and replace it with coolant.

It did on mine for a while until it forced all the air out and now it has been awesome for 2 months now without a sound and the engine has been running perfectly cooling wise ever since.

I'm going to change the Coolant this weekend. The radiator drain plug doesn't have the normal thumb screw. Does the drain plug take a torx or a speciel tool to remove it?

Thanks,
Mike

If the coolant is not gunked up and is clear, you do NOT have to change it.

Sloshing Noise.

I was told this sloshing noise can be fixed by flushing out the transmission lines?? Have you heard this before??

Re: water in passenger floor and sloshing sound behind dash, HELP

Nope, it is unrelated.

The sloshing is due to air in your cooling system.

Swapping in a good non ac delco rad cap will usually fix it.
