5 speed vs 6 speed

How much difference is there between the 5 and 6 speed in the GT?

Trying to decide which 03 GT to buy... AT, 5, or 6 speed.

Please help.

....1 more gear.. as of now.. theres about evenness for teh 5/6 speed... same amount of stuff out for each... but usually theres stuff out for teh 5 speed like short shifters different mods.. stuff like that

Is there any noticable difference in performance? Or is it really the same.

i believe the 6 speed's first gear revs fatser from what i remeber being told..
in the 1/4 sometims its better having the 5 speed jus cause you can wind out your gears.. instead of coming up short sometimes and losing rpms

the 6 speed should be a bit quicker, just cause the simple fact that it is easier to "spread" the accelaration out due to there being more gears. ive heard of a few people with some maintanence trouble with the 6 speed though.

Ive had my 6 speed tib for almost a year now and havent had any trouble with it. I dont know if theres too much difference tho. i would imagine that all of the gears in the 5 speed would be a little bit longer. If youre gonna be doing a lot of highway driving id get the 6 speed to have that extra gear and save a little gas.

oh and there are short shifters available for the 6 speed as well.

Thanks for all of the help, I won't be so concerned with tranny any more so long as it is not the automatic. I test drove the auto and all though it was very nice and seemed to shift through the gears well, there is something about manual shift that's just exciting. Thanks again for all of the help.

i know there 6 spd sts ... i jus said comapnies put out 5 spd sts earlier
