Well as you guys may have already figured out that i an a newbie here at af and i personally think that 'the forum' is the greatest one.
You guys basically inspired me to but my first teg. it was either that or an acura legend.Obvisouly the teg. was my choice of weapon.Let me give you guys a little info.and a story. I was searching for one for about five months and then i found her,a White,1995 acura integra Ls.There was a few problems that i found out about when i went to see the car.The car was sitting on the front rotors for alittle while,the interior was missing (the front seats,the back seats,the center console,all four door panels,two of the hand rails and the steering columm was broken- it had 115k on it).The one that was advertised was a two door,but when i went to see the car the was like 'ooh sorry its a four door' ,but i actually wanted a four door.The last thing is that the car is a salvage car,so i have to fix it first then take it in to the inspection place,pass the 14pts.inspection then they will send me the tittle. The body is good and so is all the electrical and the engine is good it needs the basic tune up,brakes are good too. Most people may see these things as obstacles,but not me. wanna be the first guy in the N.Y.C.(new york city) to own a 4dr teg. that can burn these m'er f'er rolling around with there 2dr tegs. thinking they're the sh*t.(NO offence to anybody with a 2dr,i love them all).that's my goal and i am slowly but surely a third of the way there. I got a lot of questions about building this all motor beast and the cash will take some time to aquire,for i sacificed a job and all my money so far to get my car and i'm now starting another job so that I can do this the right way. In conclusion guys you will be hearing alot from me,some questions may be stupid and some may be smart. A wise man once told me that the onlyest stupid question is the one that is never asked. ......................................a long way to go,i know this. X |

hey man you're not alone..i mean my car wasn't as bad as yours when i got it but i'm only 16 n this 91 teg ls is my first car n i got soo much to learn so i guess you're gonna be my question asker haha

if you want to go all motor , you should definately get a GSR or type R swap !! the ls would be a great turbo platform tho , you can boost it up to like 12 psi safely, and it would give you ALOT more power and cost ALOT LESS !! ...

for the price of just the GSR swap though he could have one hell of a LSVTEC. he could even have it bored/sleeved/stroked to 2.3L and MAYBE do the vtec swap still for the price of a GSR, I wouldnt do the ITR swap anyways, because sure it is a good engine, but chances are if you are going to go for serious power you will end up changing major components anyways like forged internals, more extreme cams, even lighter flywheel and stronger clutch, etc. so why pay 1500 bucks more for better parts when you are going to replace them either way.
and crippy is right bout the turbo, the boosted LS would be cheaper and give you bigger numbers much easier and cheaper than you will get with a NA setup.

the ls engine is just a gsr engine w/o oil squirters and a different rod/stroke and probably deck height. if you have forged internals though you arent really gonna need the oil squirters anyways, and there is nothiing you can mess up on in a LSvtec swap besides the oil lines,a nd if you take your time you wont mess it up. about the dowel pins, you dont have to drill anything anymore, www.fullrace.com go there for dual sized dowels. and if he took the price of the GSR swap (im not sure if you are talking just the LB and the ecu/harness or the whole swap with tranny and everything) the LSVTEC wouldnt have only a little more power.

I am not talking smack about the B18C1 though, I liek it, it juts isnt the most power/dollar yu could get. anyways Im gonna leave it at that and not continue to make it the LSVTEC vs. GSR argument, good luck on whatever route you go.

i like the fact that i put something out there and get all that feed back and ideas,much appericated guys.
I am trying to get this done without blowing up engine and i am kinda on a budget,but not really.I can blow some cash for the love of my car.yea man.(ITR- can one of you guys break that down for me !) I wanna do the Ls vtec conversion and do it the right way.I wanna make sure that what i'm building it that it can with stand my heavy foot. As for the turbo,it can come at a later date with alittle consideration,but its that vs the Ls vtec with the necessary mods to do it the right way. I'm open to any more ideas and info. about engine and suspension. X |

if you mod the gsr engine like that it would be right there with the ls vtec , maybe a little behind ... but you would still need to buy a better tranny ... why would you want a vtec head when you redline at 7 ?? vtec builds most power in upper rpms which is why vtec cars have higher redlines ...if you really wanna BLOW some cash go ahead and throw a vtec head on your block ... you'll be lookin for a new ride very soon !! the turbo will destroy the ls vtec setup , stock anyways ...ITR stands for the mythodical "Integra Type R " !! Seriously dude , type in a search for ls vtec and do some mad research on that ....

here's the recipe for the ls/vtec if u want it done the right way, got to warn u though, a fast n/a setup is not cheap but this will leave a b18c1 motor in the dust.

well since we're talkin about which is better lsvtec or turbo, which would be better for an automatic? lol i kno i kno gayness but i love my car n i pretty much want a daily car, but when a car comes next to me at a street light i want to be able to at least keep up if not burn it instead of losing like the other day... anyways i think i'm stickin to the turbo route cause that's what my friend suggested but i guess i'd like to kno the pros n cons of them both w/ an automatic

turbo is by far more power less money, you can boost the stock block with a off the shelf turbo kit and nothing more. to get alot of power out of LSVTEC you need new cams, pistons, valve springs, retaineres, just basically build up EVERYTHING to handle high revs alot to get a POWERFUL LSVTEC, but just the stock head on a stock block would still be pretty quick and that is cheap, but nothing extremely quick, but just to warn you with an auto its gonna be hard to beat them, depending on what they drive, you could have I/H/E and still get whooped by a stick of the same car.
