Exclamation RB26DETT vs. VG30DETT!

I know this has been covered before, fellas... but here it goes!

I'm working out a plan for my car (1990 NA, AT, 2+2 Z-Car... seen my websight yet?). I was seriously thinking of swapping out my NA junk in favor for a TT motor and transmission (haven't decided if I wanna go AT or MT just yet). But recently it has been brought to my attention that the RB seris motors along with the RB26DETT bolts onto the VG30 transmission (?). Is this true? This could change my plans! I would probably have to change out my trans since it is a NA trans though... which would lead just to use the RB trans, right??? Has anyone done this swap in the States sucessfully? I know McKinneyMotoSports may have or does... but I wanna hear first hand accounts here! ANY FEEDBACK would be appreciated!

Re: RB26DETT vs. VG30DETT!

Mckinney doesnt have SHIT! Dont trust those douche bags. www.Night7racing.com, we can get you anything you need. But what I would suggest doing is this. Dont go RB26DETT. Go RB25DET, and mod it out to RB27DETT. Its better for a RWD setup. We can supply everything for this swap. Or shit... Well do it for you if you have the money. Weve swapped some interesting things, RB25DET-180sx. RB26DETT into convertable 1994 240SX. Were working on making it AWD... Tough shit. Man if you need any info, hit me up at AIM at NISMO LMR. Peace foo's

Re: RB26DETT vs. VG30DETT!

to get a 2+2 TT here in the states, you have to do a swap. TT's have 300 hp stock.

Re: RB26DETT vs. VG30DETT!

There are also 2+2 TTs in Canada which would be easier to ship if you really wanted to. Some people will convert the NA 2+2 to TT so their insurance shows as an NA passenger car, yet they may have a 650 hp Z. It would be a better deal for you to buy a TT basically unless you are very very mechanically sound and VERY patient. Or loaded and you have money to have someone else do it.

Re: RB26DETT vs. VG30DETT!

The VG30DETT is a far better motor than many of you ignorant posters give it credit for, it is more than a match for a stock block rb26. All of the functioning extreme output RB26's are using aftermarket rotating assemblies (jun 2.7/HKS2.8) and or N1 spec racing blocks. Your average skyline/stagea rb26dett will not function to far beyond 600hp with its very maximum around 800 or less. where as stock block and rotating assembly vg30's can make 800-1000 HP i.e. Z1 motorsports/Escort racing street driven Z32's.
