creaky doors on 04 extended cab

I searched through the threads and didn't find any that sounded like my problem, so here goes. I have an 04 1500 extened cab, I have had it about a month and a half. The rear doors seem to intermittently creak. Seems to have nothing to do with how hard they are shut. Sounded like maybe the rubber seals rubbing together on the front and rear door "seam", so I sprayed silicone lubricant on them...didn't seem to affect it at all. Still making noise...anyone else noticed this on their truck, or taken it in and had it fixed? Hope this isn't just a design flaw with the rear opening doors. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Tom

My 2004 does the same thing. Annoying as hell. Seems to come from the area between the front and rear doors. Let me know if you find anything.

I have a '04 and it does the same thing. I am taking it on a 1800 mile trip next week. I can't wait to hear that all the way there and back.

I have an '03 Extended Cab Silverado and mine was doing a similar thing, with a high-pitched "crick-crick" sound, almost like a diamond on glass. I solved the problem by putting some white lithium grease on the two "hoop" catches at the top and bottom of the rear door openings.

Hopefully that will help you have a more peaceful trip.

Thanks, I kinda figured it was coming from that general area. I will give it a try. Matt

I'll definitely try that, I commute over an hour each way every day so it's really starting it get irritating!

THANKS!!

Greased up my back door last night (that doesn't sound right....lol) and drove all the way into work this morning without a single 'squeak squeak' out of the door. It was beautiful. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The same thing happened to mine on my way to Baton Rouge at 2AM back in November of '02. I didn't have any lithium grease so I used deoderant(stick type) and it worked for a while. Don't lose your white lithium grease, because it may wear off. Mine has worn off once and I had to re-apply it.
Jeb
P.S.-I usually hit both the top and bottom "loops" as well as the "loop" for the door latch very lightly. Do ya'll do the same?

Re: creaky doors on 04 extended cab

I didn't have any lithium grease, I used bearing grease.
