Broken Antenna '96 Explorer

I have a '96 Explorer with an antenna that wont go down. The reception is still "ok". The motor is trying to pull the thing down but it just wont go. I have NO idea how to get that thing out of there to replace and any help would me much appreciated.....

Thanks,

Ken

Re: Broken Antenna '96 Explorer

Before you go out and spend the $$$, I would spray the entire antenna with WD-40 and especially where the sections connect to each other and then turn the radio off and on quite a few time to get the antenna to go up and down. You should have an assistant help you with that while you're gingerly trying to help the antenna up and down. The trick is to be patient. I've done this to my Licnolns and Cadallics. Makes you wonder power antenna or fixed antennas. BTW, if you want to replace it yourself you need to be comfortable with removing the radio, trim plate, kick panel, wheel well shield. If NO, bring to radio/stereo shop. Good Luck the the WD-40
