Re: bad gas milage

Horrible gas milage is what?? How many mpg are you getting? Miles per tank?? You need to be more specific.

The K&N intake is great, I have one and love it.

Re: bad gas milage

sorry about psting new thread just that the last one got horribly off track and i did try the gas cap
if it is that big of a deal i appologize but i tried to get a response and all i got was the gas cap answer. I put in boasch platinum 4s and just oem plug wires i ran a fuel injector cleaner through my last tank (you know the ones that you put into your gas. stp was the brand of it.) I am only getting about 12 mpg highway and i have gone through a quarter tank in the last two days and only driven about 15miles and that is in town.
I havn't done the fuel filter is there any specific brand that i should use? I am completly new to this type of car and am pretty much running blind on what has been done to it. once again sorry about psoting two threads just trying to get a straight answer. thanks for the info ashah000 i am gonna try and get the new fuel filter on by next weekend

i didnt mean to sound like a dick or sound mad cause i wasnt mad at all, i am just tring to let people know that the more times you post the less space we have on the database! personally i think they should go through and erase like the oldest 10-15 pages on this forum so we have more room and dont have to worry about it... but i was just letting you know, along with everyone else! since the MOD wont reply so i cant get a thread stickied about searching before you post and dont post twice!!! but everyone makes mistakes dont worry about it!

Re: bad gas milage

Are you plugs black if so check you o2 sensor.
And the fuel filter, just goto autozone or anywhere and get one.

Re: bad gas milage

well the plugs were black but i don't know how bad you are meaning. i also had a little problem with whoever owned it last spilling oil all down the sparkplugs holes and it was kind of a mess but i got it cleaned up should i take the plugs in with me when i get the timing belt changed and see what they think?

Re: bad gas milage

You may have a bad o2 and cause you to run rich and have black plugs...

I think plugs should never go black they should be tan (i think)

Re: bad gas milage

One imediately after the turbo on the O2 housing, and one after the cat. The front O2 (at the turbo) is the one you are concerned with.

Re: bad gas milage

As for the gas cap.. thats the most comon gas milege problem, becasue of emision. the o2 sencer is also a starting point to isolating air / fuel mixture (gas mileage) problems. just about anything from your air filter being pluged up, mass airflow sencer going bad (send a check engien code to your dash) injuectors not pulsing right, Ignition misfiring. really, i would suggest, if you really are having a difficult & bothersom time with it. goto your mits dealership, spend $35-45 for a diognostic check, and have them tell you exauctly what is going on. save the time you have for funner things..
