How to find old car

How would I go about finding a car I owned a long time ago?

jeeze man, You know the VIN? I would start with carfax, thats all linked to DMV, they might tell you bout the owner, or atleast what state its registered in. If you can find out what county its in just plaster wanted adds in all the newspapers and car finders, and visit the junkyard as well. Thats tought thou, especially since a lot of old cars are just scrapped.
